Hi all,
I've recently purchased a Nitro 5 AN515-57 to be my work / travel laptop. I wanted a device with a dedicated graphics card so I can entertain myself if I'm away from home.

Anyway, long story short, I need a docking station for this laptop at work to connect two monitors.

I've looked into the specs, and with the USB Type-C port being USB 3.2 Gen 2, it specifies that it supports Displayport Over USB-C and USB Charging 5V, 3A.
(specs here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/AE/content/model/NH.QCCEM.004)

The laptop's power pack is 180W (max).

My question is about compatibility.

Does my docking station need to support 180W to keep the laptop powered?
Does the "USB Charging 5V, 3A" refer just to an output charge (i.e. charging a mobile device from this port)?

Appreciate any help!

    Hello!!

I understand that you are looking for Docking Station to connect this laptop with 2 monitors.

To answer your 1st question, YES. The Docking station should support 180W, in order to keep the laptop powered on. Also not to drop by performance.

Now, to your 2nd question. YES. The USB Charging 5V, 3A refers to output. You can have any device like Mobile Phones, Power Bank..etc connect to the laptop & get charged.

    Hope the information helps!!

    Thanks Balatekie!

I've resolved to just use a dual display adapter via the Thunderbolt/USB-C port.

It arrived today and it's not working, so I'm just troubleshooting that!
