My A515-43-R6DE screen is very dark and I can faintly see the desktop.

I just got the Acer Aspire 5 laptop (model A515-43-R6DE) at the end of August and this issue just popped up today. When I went to power on my laptop, the blue power light came on and the backlit keyboard was working, but the screen is not. I can faintly see the login screen and I was able to get to the desktop, but it won't get any brighter. It is barely visible. I already tried restarting the computer a couple times and that didn't work. It definitely has a full battery charge because when I plug in the charging cable, the battery light on the keyboard is blue. I'm not really sure what to do here. Any ideas?

If the FN+RightArrow combo doesn't brighten it up, then try pressing FN+F6 and FN+F5 just in case these were accidentally activated.

The FN+RightArrow combo didn't work. I tried the FN+F6 and FN+F5 combos, but neither of those worked too.

    (1) Try to shut down Windows normally. If you can't, just press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds till it shuts off.
    (2) Unplug charger.
    (3) Insert and hold paperclip into reset pinhole on bottom for about a minute.
    (4) Plug the charger back in but wait for the battery charge LED to turn from steady orange to steady blue
    (5) Turn the machine on and immediately start tapping the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu.
    (6) If BIOS menu seems to have normal brightness, press F9 key in the BIOS menu to load defaults. Then press F10 to save default settings and exit the BIOS menu.
    (7) The machine should start normally after exiting the BIOS

If the BIOS menu also appears dark, this may suggest a hardware issue

I did steps 1-5, but the BIOS menu was also dark. I couldn't actually see anything on the screen after I turned the computer back on. Both the power and battery light are solid blue. It looks like it may be a hardware issue.

OK. Go through the above pinhole reset steps again. When you get to step 5, see if you can see the BIOS menu images with a flashlight in a darkened room. If you can, proceed with step 6 if possible.

If it still doesn't respond, then immediately check with your vendor/seller if their return defective merchanise authorization (RMA) period has expired. It's usually only a few weeks but some vendors have extended RMA periods for as long as 90 days.

If the RMA period has already expired, then click this link, choose your country/region, click support at the top of the ACER country webpage, enter your machine's serial number id (SNID) and arrange for ACER warranty service soon.
