this is my first time sharing this quandary of mine.

i have sparingly used my Acer Aspire E5-551G-812L after its monitor got shattered after it was hit by a hard object a couple of years back. i do open it sometimes to check whether it's still working though, but i'm worried that it might not open at all.

i'm also planning to install a 2nd storage drive (M.2 SSD / NvME) into the laptop to expand its built-in 500gb storage. does this particular model (Acer Aspire E5-551G-812L) have a slot for it or does it have to be installed with external accessories for it to work?

thank you.

Sorry, this model does not have an m.2 socket. You can however add an 2.5" SSD or m.2 SATA SSD card using a DVD caddy. It would however be more practical to replace the 2.5" 500GB HDD with a 1TB or 2TB 2.5" HDD or SSD which are less than $100usd these days. You can also get a usb-to-ssd/hdd adapter for less than $10 with which you can attach your old 2.5" 500GB to a USB port for additional storage as a D : \ drive.
