Sometimes it stays on a black screen without the logo on startup. Not exactly black, like twilight. It fixes itself when I turn it off by holding down the power button and then turning it back on. What could be the problem? and i upgrade bios to version v1.18 but this bios version removed acer support site fot this model. Help please.

Unlike driver updates, firmware updates are risky because they can cause irreversible adverse side effects or brick/disable a machine. They are primarily meant for machines that seem to have serious problems or issues that are not responding to ordinary driver updates or settings. They usually are not meant for functional machines with no apparent issues. This is partly why a warning is posted on the firmware version download list.

If you can still boot into Windows, I think the first thing to try is to open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in the left pane. Then click 'change settings that are currently unavailable'. Scroll down and uncheck the box for fast startup. Then simply shut down Windows normally and see if the problem persists on subsequent boots.

If that doesn't resolve the problem we can try to reverse the firmware to an earlier version. However,  the process is somewhat complex and even riskier than doing an update. It may render the machine completely unusable---bricked. You can decide later on whether or not you want to risk this.

What problem were you trying to fix by upgrading the BIOS firmware?
