Does my Acer Aspire 5 A515-41G-12AX has M.2 SSD slot and which one is recommended?

Recently, I've been experiencing high disk usage by System, which is really annoying and using my laptop had bacome almost impossible. I want to upgrade to a SSD. I don't know if this laptop has any available slot and I afraid of opening it. Thanks in advanced.

Yes you should be able to add an m.2 NVME or SATA3 card up to 2TB. The NVME might be somewhat faster. Or you can replace the 2.5" HDD  with a 2.5" SSD. It helps to cut high disk usage by uninstalling, not just disabling, any non-M icrosoft virus scanners. They're no longer needed by most users

Thanks for helping. I don't have any antivirus, just Windows Defender. Still, my system is using my HDD like crazy by the "System" process on task manager. It's almost impossible to use my laptop sometimes. It started a few weeks ago.

Open Control Panel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in the left pane. If System Protection is turned on in the box that pops up, click 'System Restore' button. Click next. Do you see an automatic restore point with a date stamp that approximately coincides with the disk usage issue?

Yes, there is one. I don't remember, but it might be created by some Windows Update. I think my problem is somehow related to this update.

You can try selecting & reversing the update. But before you do, you should first try downloading and installing iobit's DriverBooster freeware to see if it might find an updated driver on line that plays better with the updates on your machine. If still no joy, then I suggest that you save/backup any personal files you've made since the time the issue started and select the restore point. If it resolves the issue, the update can be temporarily blocked until some future update fixes the issue
