I’m using Acer‘s laptop which has the operating system installed in C: with 256 MB SSD, I’d like to upgrade to 500 MB by Clone. Could you advise the free software (using usb  nvme m.2 enclosure, this usb ssd can be read and write now) to complete the task with this Clone?  Thank you very much!

Two methods, both involve an additional internal or external drive:

    1) Use an external M.2 NVMe adapter with the 500GB drive in it. Download cloning software such as Macrium Reflect or Acronics to the old 256 GB SSD. Run the software with the new 500GB as the target drive cloning everything to this drive.

Take out the old 256GB drive and replace it with the new 500 GB drive. The 256GB drive temporarily off line and after the 500GB boots then put it back to the external adapter and use it for data only later.

    2) Connect an external HDD/SSD ( or another internal HDD/SSD) to the PC. In Win 10 Control Panel->System and Security->Backup and Restore (Windows 7)->Left Pane: Select Create a System Image (will take a while). Shut Down. Replace old SSD with the new 500GB SSD.

When boot up, hold down Fn+ALT keys and keep tapping F10 key until you see the Restore Menu.
Trouble Shoot->Advanced Options->System Image Recovery-> Select the image stored previously, this process will take a while, be patience.
The new 500GB should be bootable from now on.

What is biggest SSD size and main memory  for this acer laptop (acer aspire a715 71G 75YK ) can be supported? 1TB ok?

    You are welcome.

Usually the capacity limit is not a problem. People can use up to 2 TB in general. 1 TB should not be a problem at all.

Which method you used to clone your SSD?
