So I’m sure it has been asked before but I have the AN515-55 model Nitro 5 with a 512gb SSD that came with it, I’ve bought a Samsung 870 QVO 1tb SSD to add to it but my laptop didn’t come with a ribbon cable to let me do this. I’m in Australia and having a real hard time finding the right cable that isn’t going to take months to get here. Can anyone help me out? I’ve called a few PC places locally but getting a bit tired of the condescending attitudes when they realise I’m a woman asking about computer parts. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Any help appreciated.

I too thought mine was missing, but it was lying in the laptop box. I had to search again and then found it. Maybe try seeing if yours is hidden too.
Yeah I went through my laptop box here about 6 weeks ago and got everything out of it before I tossed the box 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m almost positive it wasn’t in there
For me it was hiding in one of the flap folds of the box. I was lucky I didn't throw it away. But I think you should be able to buy one for like under $15 bucks.

I can offer you an alternate suggestion, while you wait on the cable.

You mentioned its a 1 TB SSD you want to add. And I am assuming it is internal SSD.
You can get a USB 3.x adapter for it and connect it to laptop via USB 3 port. It would be lower speeds than when connected internally, but you'll be surprised at the speeds. It would be much faster than you think, and you can even game on it. How do I know this - cos I did this, and it worked flawless.

Had I not found the cable, I had this in my cart to order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08M9Q8VN1

Below are the two internal to USB adapters I use (even today):

Yeah I def chucked the box and didn’t find the cable so knowing my luck it was hidden and got tossed with the box 🤦🏽‍♀️

As far as ordering a new one and did already do that, hoping it’s the right one as it’s off eBay, looked about right but here’s hoping. As for the case… I ordered one of those too cause the cables set to take a few weeks to get here and as you said it might be a bit slower but connecting it externally still means I’ll be able to get things out on it I need and run off of it. It’s an SSD so even ‘slower’ still seem like it would be appropriately quick.

Thanks a bunch for the responses :)

Oh trust me... SSD on USB 3 let me play games like RUST, L4D2, Killing Floor 2, Back 4 Blood Beta, Outriders and other heavy games without even making me feel i was playing on a drive connected to USB. It is not a slow unless you are doing some really disk intensive work.

External drives also mean less internal heat, with laptops is a good thing.
And if you have a monitor with USB 3 ports you can power it from that and leave your laptop with more power for other things.

You’re not wrong. I’ll get the ribbon cable and probably put it in eventually just as I like to move the laptop around a bit and not dragging an external around would be great but if it runs fine externally and/or the heat is too much internally I’ll probably just revert back to external.
