I have tried everything to fix this issue, including using the latest Acer provided Intel ME Firmware, but what Acer provides is still vulnerable.  Has anyone solved this?  I tried searching for it on this forum but answers are from last year and didn't help

Is Acer going to leave us on this one?  It is a line that is going to be crossed.  I have multiple Acer laptops to even their 38" monitor.  I was thinking I would upgrade this Predator in the near future, but I do not buy from companies that leave their users hanging with a security problem even when Intel provided them with what they need to fix it.

Also, tired of chasing Intel ME security vulns...  AMD looks better every day.

Now I am really confused.  I may have 'Downgraded' my ME firmware with Acers 'update'  Wow, Acer is such a CLuster F on this subject.

Acer looks like they updated to an even later version than they are offering via the fix page from an old BIOS!!!

I wish I had seen this earlier.  No matter as the old one was vulnerable before the upgrade downgrade.

Acer needs to fix this garbage.

    1.19 BIOS

    1. Update MCU version to M2A906E9_00000083_00000084.
    2. Update ME to version 11.8.50.3460.

    Date:

    2018/08/10

    Version:

    1.19

    Vendor:

    Acer

    Size:

    6.4 MB

@xman1 regarding your issue i would suggest you to contact acer support directly to inform them of the situation as this community its not the official support channel its mainly user driven acer staff manages it and only steps in when they need to we are just normal users like yourself we arent acer employees we are here voluntarily on our own free time in order to provide the best help/advice we can/know also the issue is you model was already discontinued a long time ago along with the support for it (same as mine) and i agree intel is a mess with vulnerabilities and will always be but either way good luck  :)

And just a heads up all my laptops H300/spin5 including my  my 10th gen aspire 5 from Q4 2019 are also vulnerable (probably all  intel cpus these days are)  mainly the csme its unpatchable according to many reports its a design flaw so in my personal view its not acers fault its intels fault for the design flaws that they cant or refuse to fix

Thanks for the reply.  Intel has provided Acer with the appropriate updates.  Acer is just not bothering to spend any time on it for their out of warranty models.  They also will not answer support questions for laptops that are out of warranty.

This is 100% on Acer.  It is their fault.  Intel has done what they needed to do from their perspective.  Acer just needs to release what they were given but they choose not to.

Other manufacturers are providing timely updates.  Lenovo for example is always updating my ME firmware.

Well i cant comment further on that as im just a normal user like yourself and we cant force anyone to do anything unfortunately and yes old models dont get any updates whatsoever as they get discontinued also intel is always having serious security/vulnerability issues this shouldnt happen at all as they arent a company that just started also amd it way better regarding security and vulerabilities and mostly everything else :)
