I have a new acer aspire 5
Twice, once today about an hour after gaming and once the day after I got it all set up, I have had a black screen that lasted about 30 or so seconds.
No key pressed helped or mouse movements,
No error log in the event viewer about it,
No drivers or windows update being installed.

No reason for it.
Anyone else had this at all?

    Hi ukHeather,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Shutdown the unit.
    2. Unplug the cables connected to the unit.
    3. At bottom of the unit there will be a small tiny pin hole with a battery symbol close to it. Take a pin or a paper clip insert into it you feels like pressing a button hold it for 20-30 seconds.

I should add it happened again and I realised the keyboard lights go off and don't come on when pressed while the screen is black. This is so weird!

I had similar problem . You have got power supply problem . Learn about Mains Filler Capacitor or Filter Capacitor . I added it into a PC extension lead . No Black screens any more.

Power supply doesn't quite fit this issue though
The power level doesn't affect it. I usually am full battery anyway.
As someone who has worked in IT, I just can't see why that would cause random black screens. Talking about once every so often, can go without it for a week or it will happen two days running.
Lasts seconds. It isn't lasting a long time like many have.

    ukHeather,

    # Try to update the battery driver

    1. Hold windows key and hit letter X.
    2. Choose the device manager option.
    3. Go with the option battery.
    4. Under the title battery.
Update Battery Drivers in Windows EASILY - Driver Easy
    5. Right click on that option ----> Update all driver under the title battery.
    6. Choose "search automatically".

Check this T/S and post the result.
