I recently purchased an acer aspire 5 A515-46-R14K laptop from Amazon, however, I have not found enough information about the Ram memory capacity, on some pages it mentions that only 12gb maximum and on Amazon it says 20gb. By the way, the laptop comes with 4gb soldered to the motherboard.

Do a Crucial® System Scanner which will scan your laptop and will tell you all the memory and drive upgrades that Crucial has for memory and SSD drives for your Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K.

I did that, but it does not show the types of ram memory, it only shows me the types of ssd memory that can be used.
Firstly and don't forget that this laptop is at the lower Acer Aspire laptop range. Your Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K has an AMD Ryzen 3 3350U with the AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 and comes with 4GB DDR4 Onboard Memory and a 128GB NVMe SSD hard drive.

    This laptop has
1 upgradable slot to install memory into, its already filled with an OEM 4GB (Soldered) standard memory. You can upgrade your Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K laptop up to a maximum total memory capacity of 12GB. Which means that you can add into its 1x empty slot an 8GB DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz Non-ECC SODIMM module for your Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K laptops performance to use its maximum amount of 12GB memory. Hope this helps you out.

After doing the scan from Crucial https://www.crucial.in/store/systemscanner it shows that the Aspire 5 A515-46-R14k has 4GB DDR4 PC4-25600 3200 MHz Ram preinstalled with a maximum of 32 GB. Just click on the DRAM tab after opening the scanner file downloaded and it shows the results you will see a link that says DRAM on the page.

I have an A515-46-R14K, and I am talking about the R14K sub-model in particular. Maybe other A515-46 will have different hardware profile, such as the soldered RAM is 8 GB or something different. Theortically the motherboard of A515-46 may allow up to 32GB (if the soldered RAM is 16 GB).

The R14K has 4 GB RAM soldered, and just one open slot for RAM upgrade. After running CPU-Z, I found that the RAM is 2400 MHZ, having CL17. This is confirmed by Win 10 Task Manager performance tab, indicating running at 2400 MHz, that is limited by the soldered R3-3350u CPU. The motherboard bus limit is 2666 MHz. In reality, the R14K sub-model will allow to 20 GB maximum by adding a 16GB RAM. When I upgraded my R14K, I added a 4 GB 2400 MHz CL17 stick to the still open RAM slot for a total of 8 GB for optimal performance. Now my R14K is upgraded to Win 11 from Win 10.

Hope this can clear some doubts.

The memory built into Acer Aspire 5 a515-46-R14K Laptop specs here https://starmicroinc.net/micron-4gb-3200mhz-ddr4-pc4-25600-non-ecc-unbuffered-sodimm-oem-laptop-memory-mta4atf51264hz-3g2j1/ of course I've built desktops for years so looking up specs is especially important.

I also bought the Aspire 5, A515-46-R14K with the AMD Ryzen 3, Model 3350U, Quad-core with 4GB ram soldered OEM. I also found similar data at memory sites that this unit would only take a max upgrade of 8GB ram making a total of 12GB. However the same sites said other similar series models like A515-46-R3UB lists max 24GB total ram, and the A515-46-R6RR lists max 32GB total ram.  When I checked Crucial either didn't have ram for the A515-46-R14K or was out, it didn't make clear on that.

However I bought a 16GB stick of DDR4 2666mhz CL=19 Acer brand ram at Amazon and it worked. I now have 20GB total ram installed.
The nomenclature on the Ram was->16GB 1R*8 PC4 2666 CL19 NB which the forum here told me it same as DDR4 type ram (the 2666 is mhz)

[-Edit here's some data from Acer on this ram type,-]
