Can't Get Sound Working On Acer 27" Monitor (NITRO VG0 series-VG270) Using the Audio In Port

Hi,
I recently bought the "Acer Nitro 27" Class FHD IPS FreeSync Gaming Monitor" from Costco (75 Hz version), and I can't get the sound workings on it. I have a kinda weird setup. I'm using the monitor using my PC, with the input coming from my NVIDIA Quadro K1200. I have a miniDP to DVI adapter going into a DVI to HDMI cord which I have pugged into the HDMI 1 input on the monitor. The video comes through fine. I also have a 3.5mm headphone cored plugged from the audio out port on my computer into the audio in port on the monitor. The sound on the computer is being directed to the audio cord plugged into the monitor, and the monitor speakers are set to 100, mute is off. I get no sound coming from the monitor. Presumably, the problem is that the monitor is trying to get sound from HDMI, but due to the signal conversion, no audio is sent. I can't find a way to switch where the monitor tries to get it's audio.  Any idea of what to do?

If you head to the volume icon on the bottom right , right click it, select sounds. You should be able to see what output device windows is using.

If it is as you think and routing audio over hdmi, you can right click on hdmi, and disable it, it will then auto swap back to the 3.5mm jack (hopefully!)

I don't believe that model has speakers. Are you sure it's not an audio out port?
