I put Acer to sleep for the night. I woke up 1:30 in the morning to bright light and Acer was awake with Blue Recovery Screen. Like a dummy I asked OK, why are you awake? What did you do? Lol. Tried reset, that failed. Tried repair, that failed. I said fine Acer, I'll fight wifh you in the morning. Come morning, Windows reinstall failed and sent Acer into an "eternal boot loop". Took to shop. They assumed OS had failed. A week later, they are stumped. They said they cannnot get the hard drive to wake up / respond to recognize any operating system reinstall. Since hard drive is saudered in, they cannot get to hard drive.

Any guidance for the shop techs? Is there any way to save my Acer or is he toast? 😂

It might help if you could reveal the full Acer model number. For example s1003? Or A115-31?

With the laptop off, press and hold the F2 key. While still holding the F2 key, turn the machine on. The BIOS menu should appear. Please post a phone photo of the BIOS Information tab if possible.

I don't have the laptop now, it's in the shop. I waa able to get into BIOS before it went into the eternal boot loop but not after. I had been trying to boot from disc but laptop refused.

Good news: They cracked the hard drive and are reinstalling Windows.

When in boot loop, you must press and hold power button till machine completely shuts off. Then you press and hold the F2 key. While still holding the F2 key, you then turn the machine on to enter the BIOS menu. Sorry, I must see BIOS Information tab or can't analyze problem with the boot or hard drive device.

Once it entered boot loop, it didn't respond to F2 anymore, which was weird. When I get it back Ill take a photo for you. Formal diagnosis was OS failure / corruption. They're reinstalling Windows but can't do anything with hard drive.

Yes. That's precisely why I said that when in boot loop, you must press and hold power button till machine completely shuts off. Then, and only then, do you press, hold and don't let go of the F2 key BEFORE you try to press the power button to turn it back on again. If a complete power shut down is not done, the F2 key usually won't respond in a boot loop because the BIOS initialization is actually being bypassed.

Sorry. The tech's report does not help. Unless and until the BIOS Information tab can be displayed by the exact procedure outlined above, I can not suggest any further steps.

It took the techs days to get it out of boot loop. And to get the hard drive to respond to installation. They still have no idea how or why laptop woke itself up in the middle of the night. I'll find out tomorrow how they finally got it out of boot loop. I'll get the laptop back repaired so we won't get the needed BIOS information. Thanks for your help.
