Hi!  My model is  Helios 500 Ryzen (Predator PH517-61)  N17Q11
I want to upgrade it to have 1TB  SSD.  I'm trying to add
Kingston NV1 1TB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 (SNVS/1000G) to second slot.
Is this possible? Or it's better to add HDD with 1TB?

Just an update. With that SSD mentioned above, laptop isn't loading further than predator logo.

First make sure that your new "Kingston NV1 1TB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 (SNVS/1000G)" M.2 drive is inserted correctly into its slot and the right way around into your PH517-61 slots.

Your PH517-61 can take either 1x 2.5" drives (of either spinner HDD or SSD at SATA-3 6GB/sec) and has 2x slots for M.2 drives types of  either B&M end key types or M end keyed types M.2 drives with specifications of either the SATA-3 6GB/sec or NVMe type M.2 drives like the following:
    • MICRON MTFDDAV512TB N-1AR1ZABYY - which is a SATA 6 Gb/s interface  ATA modes supported: PIO mode 3, 4; Multiword DMA mode 0, 1, 2; Ultra DMA mode 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6  SMART Features supported  ATA-8 ACS3 command set compliant  ATA security feature command set and password login support  Secure erase (data page) command set: fast and secure erase
    • LITE-ON 512GB CA1-8D512 - which is an NVMe Admin command set and NVMe I/O command set supported  Data Set Management command set supported  SMART Features, Security Feature Set and Power management supported
Note: all driver formatting has to comply to the windows Master Boot Record (MBR) and the GUID Partition Table (GPT) rules otherwise the drives won't work and/or be recognised.

@JustMax anything up to 2tb m.2 (the same to 2.5"hdd 7/9mm form factor more than 2tb they are 15mm will not fit and 2.5" ssd 4tb) would work fine either nvme or sata what it states on the SG its not the max supported its just the max that was tested by acer personally i recommend wd blue or if you really want nvme and have money to spend go samsung evo 970/980 pro :)

I'm having this problem. My helios 500 has had a single M.2 ssd (pcie?) That came with the machine and 250 gb was plenty for a couple years. But I bought a Samsung 990 evo NVMe M.2 1tb and can't get it to work in the first or second slot. I keep being told it should work but it isn't. I'm wondering what my options are.
