Continuing Problem with RTX 2070 Super CArd becoming undetected

I have been daling with this for like almost two weeks. Predator Triton 500 laptop.

At first the screen went black and i had to reset the battery (seems like a common problem with Triton owners)

Now when a game glitches and crashes to desktop the graphics card becomes undetected. Actually ... the system still tells be it is there but the Predator sense does not register its temperature and every game runs with no graphics card (5 FPS) So i know it is not detected but device manager still says its there.

If i restart then it is completely gone and appears nowhere.

I reset the battery and it is back to being detected .

It is not a heat problem (my heat is like 140 F or lower)

It does not matter if the game is very intense since it happens durimg moments 60+ FPS when the system is not taxed. It happens completely randomly.

It does not happen with League of Legens but it does happen in Seven Days to Die so it does have something to do with 3D processing or more demanding games. But It works fine in moments when the system is under great pressure and i have like 20 FPS.

I have used a DDU to remove the drivers (NVIDIA and Intel) and i have re-installed the most current drivers.

THe only thing I have not done is re-install windows. I do nto think this will work.

I read on this community that people suspect the new 2060. 2070, 2080 cards are just glitchy and a better driver is needed from NVIDIA.

Yes this is a very unfortunate thing as and especially the stand alone cards which are so expensive tend to go wrong when out of warranty and like you say “2060. 2070, 2080 cards are just glitchy” as its very evident by the many desktop cards that are in for repairs with “Not being Detected and/or with No Power problems or both. This is not only the case with the NVIDIA 20 series cards but it’s also the same with the 30 series and even the high end 30 series cards like the RTX 3080’s and even the RTX 3090’s cards that are USD $2250 plus.

Try going to the NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Global Settings > Preferred graphics processor and change that to the “High performance NVIDIA processor and/or do an individual setting for the appropriate game(s) (which you can find settings on the web for and from people that have used these personal settings) or chose the setting of “High performance NVIDIA processor” for those games by going to the “Program Settings” and try and see if that works?

Otherwise and if your laptop is still under warranty send it to Acer so they can fix this problem but if its not, then consult Acer and ask them what the solution(s) are, as this is a GPU chip problem that your RTX 2070 GPU is either faulty and or its on its way out and you need to replace your motherboard. @Zolokhan unfortunately this is a common issue in some tritons maybe a bios bug or the most probably nvidia buggy drivers that need to be properly optimized for these models that make the dgpu disconnect itself for even just nanoseconds its enough to eject it from the system and cause these issues making that only a battery powerdrain and bios setup defaults will get the dgpu back to work its really unfortunate but doesnt seem to happen in all units its a few random

A new driver for NVIDIA just came out today ... it is downloading now.

I siwtched the NVIDIA control panel preferred GPU to high performance.

I agree with you about it glitching out for a second and then becoming undetected. The crash to desktops happened before this issue (I run games with too many mods probably) but now when they happen the GPU disappears .. before i could just restart the game.

I will see if the new dirver and new setting change anything.

The problem is still happening and it happens whenever a game CTD.

I am also getting this blue screen Video_Dxgkrnl_Fatal_Error

I am looking at what that is and it is some problem with drivers and windows files ...

how would I know if i have the latests BIOs?

OK i found it .... BIOS Version/DATE = Insyde Corp. V1.10, 12/28/2020

I am trying to find how to update BIOS ... it is a CML spyder_CMS motherboard but I have no idea where to find an updated BIOS version.

@Zolokhan if there is a bios update on acer support for your own model should be a .exe flash file it would update once you ran it

Found all the BIOS stuff on ACER ... tried to install them all ... said they were not as new as my current version and it stopped.

So ... i have been trying to figure out how to solve the dxgkrnl_fatal_error thing but nothing has helped.

Basically ... everything runs fine ... then randomly (could be twice in an hour could be once in two days) a game crashes and by graphics card disappears and battery reset is only thing that brigns it back.

From the Depths and 7 DAys to die cause it to happend but League of LEgends does not . .. .but league never crashes to desktop so i dunno.

I am probably going to wait for it to happend again then take it to the computer shop while the graphics card is still invisible. I do not even know how to duplicate this error on my own ...

Yeah when its a random crash its not easy to replicate maybe search through the windows crash/bsod logs might be something there of course a windows support engineer would certainly know where to exactly lookup maybe try the windows forums might find someone there who might help shed some more light on the issue at this point we all would like to find out the exact issue why its crashing and if its always because of the same good luck

I installed a new game (Zero-K) and it completely did not work .. told me my graphics card drivers were out od date ... made my graphics card invisible again until a battery restart and for some reason PredatorSense is not working. PredatorSense starts up with the little graphic then nothing ... when i click it i get a windows blue spinning and then nothing ... nothing.

I uninstalled predator sense ... reinstalled it .. and still nothing. So .... wtf. lol

Search for take ownership script and take ownership of the hidden windows apps folder in the program files folder and start the PS from there also any software removal i recommend you to use your uninstaller or similar to completely remove any leftovers use DDU to remove the nvidia drivers and try again good luck

I took ownership of the window apps folder ... still predator sense does not open ... it is running in the task list but displays nothing and deos nothing.

I will probably be taking this to the computer people on Monday after it gets the BSOD for the dxgrnl_fatal_error so I can show them that.

@Zolokhan try removing PS with youruninstaller as i advised also remove PS service and reinstall setup to always run as administrator (same with all other .exe files in the folder) create a PS shortcut from the windows apps folder or pin it in the taskbar
