How to keep my laptop when not in use?

I keep it in the original packing it came from, even the outermost most box, is it too much?? How do you keep your laptop when not in use, here in India there is a lot of humidity and moderate dust in air/\.

On the lower left corner of screen - click on windows logo - click on power - shutdown. 

Shutdown or power off the computer.  Unplug the charger.  close the lid.   Keep it in the box ( to avoid dust if you are not using it for a longer period of time).   Store it in the cupboard.    Please try to use the laptop one or two times in a week if possible.  Atleast try to use it one or two days in a month.    You can use the laptop to play music, watch movies, youtube and even watch tv programs.    If you use it you more, you will get more life out of it.    You can also use it to play games and surf the internet.     Connect the charger and use it.   It will charge the battery.    It is just like how you use your mobile on daily basis.   Happy Computing!!!

I am asking whether it is too much when I use it regularly (8 hours a day for game development) so should I leave it on the desk or just pack everything as I do now.

I am glad that you are using it 8 hours a day for game development.    Please leave it on the desk.    Please store it on the cupboard or on the box only if you not using it for a longer period of time.
