I have Aspire A515-56G laptop. Synaptic is not working on it. Fed up with this issue as I couldn't find any solution for it.

You need to install i/o driver first and then you need to install the touchpad drivers from acer support website..

Before trying to install the touchpad driver - try fn + f6,  fn + f7    or   f6 or f7 alone to enable and disable the touch pad..

Which touchpad do you have? They shipped with either a Synaptics or Elantech touchpad and you need the appropriate driver that fits your hardware.
