Helios 300 PH317-54 with Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD

Hi,

I am thinking to put a Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD next to my present 1Tb WDC SSD what is the factorydefault SSD

Is this compatible and will i reach that speed too with my system?
Or can i expect trouble?

like to hear from you before i buy.... these kind of things are quite expensive so i would like to be sure i have the proper one

If this is NOT compatible...please give me some advise which should be good: 2TB should be and "around" read/write speed as mentioned is desireable

Hi,
The motherboard in your model supports PCIe Gen 3.0 SSDs but 980Pro is a Gen 4.0 SSD, it may work because it's backward compatible with the PCIe Gen 3.0 motherboard but it's speed will be restricted to Gen 3.0 and it means that you won't achieve it's full potential(speed).
I would suggest you buy a Gen3.0 drive like Samsung 970 Evo Plus (Read/Write speeds 3500/3300) which will be more suitable for your system in my opinion.
