Are you referring to the processor socket? Socket LGA1200drpiss said:Does anyone know what socket size the motherboard has?
Hi
I,m a complete noob when it comes to computers and hardwere. But my wife got me the P03-630 for gaming, and i only have 500gb memory, and want to upgrade ant i have found this one: WD Black SN850 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2TB. looking at the motherboad i can se that it having two m.2 ports an what i have read in the thread at least one 4.0 port. I took a look inside the computer after reading the manual and all the "holes" for harddrives are empty. is it "just" to put my new ssd harddrive in a 3,5 case an put it in an all is good?
Thank you for an answer
Howdy!
The storage drive is supposed to be installed on the motherboard. You do not need to buy 3.5" case for it. The drive does look like this or something very similar, right?
The drive uses M.2 slot for connection. It will transfer data and gets its power from the connector on the motherboard, so no additional cables are needed. Yay! On the previous page is a picture of the motherboard layout. Your current 500Gb drive is in slot number 25. There should be also one empty M.2 slot where you can install your new drive. It is numbered as 15.
You should have a tiny screw somewhere in a tiny plastic bag that you need to use to secure the drive in place.
If this is your first time to install this kind of a drive, I'd search for some tutorial Youtube video. It's not difficult to install, but some guidance is always good. After installation there might be few more things to do before you can use the drive, but Youtube can help you with this as well.
Good luck!
Yes, one of your SSD slots supports PCIe 4.0, the other PCIe 3.0. Usually the default drive is in the 4.0 slot and the secondary drive is in the 3.0 slot. IIRC your Predator PO3-630 (Note, PO for Predator Orion, not P0 for Predator Zero) has the 4.0 slot next to the GPU slot and the 3.0 slot up toward the front of the machine near the memory. The M.2 slot over by the 'diving board' section of the MB is for a WLAN card. There's no issue with putting the wrong drive in the wrong slot, the 4.0 card will just run at 3.0 speeds. If both drives test at the same speed just swap them.

Does anybody know if i can take the Predator PO3-630 motherboard in to a nzxt h5 flow case
