Upgrading soc memory on swift sf314-42

hello folks,

I love my laptop in every way except insufficient and non-upgradable memory. I searched everywhere but couldnt find a viable option to buy 16 gig model either. So , have 8 gig model now. Then i thought may be i can desolder the soc ram modules and replace them with the chips on 16gig model(after i purchase them on ebay or aliexpress). I know it might be hardwired and may fail but i feel like i should take that risk Because all the sf314-42 submodels share the same bios file. I am sensing it can identify the memchip on 16 gig model. So anybody willing to disassemble to inform me memory configuration on 16gig model? Or get some info on chip model numbers through a software ?

cankutayeser I warn you, don’t do that, you will ruin your laptop and motherboard. The job of changing this memory (if you can and can get the parts?) as you need specialist micro soldering tools like a microscope, a special soldering iron, special Antec flux and low heat solder and expertise to do this sort of work and if you don’t have that, you will do more damage to the motherboard and you will wreck everything and make your laptop unworkable.

My suggestion to you is see if you can buy the Swift SF314-42 motherboard that has the 16GB memory and you could even get a motherboard with a better CPU like what came in the top of the range Swift with the Ryzen 7 4800U with 16GB of memory, this could be much cheaper as those memory chips are not readily available anyway. The Swift came with either 4 GB/ 8GB or the 16GB models and with CPU's of the Ryzen 7 4800U or the 4700U or the Ryzen 5 4500U or the Ryzen 3 4300U lowest spec, aslo this memory is a special “LP DDR-4/4x up to 4266Mhz” type.
