Acer swift 3 SF315-51G-57QM display issue

My display started showing these horizontal bars all of a sudden. It remains fine for a second or two and then these bars would pop up from the bottom. I've added the pictures.

Hi Abhishek19,

Try to do power drain,

1. Turn OFF the unit.
2. Unplug the charger. 
3. At the bottom there will be a tiny pin hole with battery sign close to it take a pin or paper clip and insert into it hold that button for 20-30 seconds. Then turn ON the unit and check.

Power drain didn't work. Battery and charging is just fine though. I think I've a display or cable issue.

Yep, that's likely either a slightly loose eDP cable (between MB and display) or a problem with the display itself. Are you still in warranty? If so contact Acer support...

I no longer have the warranty, as the laptop is three years old

So, how comfortable are you with opening it up and mucking around with the insides? The next step is to try and further diagnose the problem, which involves checking that cable for physical signs of damage and seating in the connectors at each end. It's not quite a pull it down to the component atoms, but not a huge amount less...
