Predator Helios 300 (PH315-53) has low volume when using headphones

Hello everyone,

I have noticed that whenever I plugin my headphones, the volume is very low, for the sound level set in windows. Even at 100%, the sound is not as loud as one would expect at that level. I tried fiddling with the DTS: Ultra settings by using custom settings, and while it did noticeably improve the sound levels of the speakers (which are quite low too, but DTS improves it substantially), almost no change was observed with headphones. I also read various posts on this forum and tried their solutions, but nothing seems to be working for me.

I have reinstalled the Realtek Audio drivers directly from the Acer support website, and also re-installed DTS: Ultra.

For the most part, I am okay with the sound as 70-80% is sufficient for most games that I play (with headphones). But with Rise of Nations: Extended Edition, I almost don't get any sound at all. It's so faint that its barely audible (even at 100%). However, when I switch from headphones to speakers (without even plugging out), the sound comes back to normal. Switch back to headphones, no sound once more. I don't understand what's the matter here.

I tried rolling back the Realtek drivers on a previous occasion, and that seemingly fixed the issue. But after a while, the problem again persisted, so I re-installed the Realtek Drivers from Acer Support, and now I don't have the rollback option anymore, while the problem remains unfixed. I have tried using different headphones and earphones, all have low sound in general, and no sound with Rise of Nations.

Driver Details:

Realtek Driver: 6.0.9054.1
Intel Display Audio: 10.27.0.9
Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST): 10.25.0.4114
NVIDIA High Definition Audio: 1.3.38.60
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM): 4.13.0.0

Windows 10: Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043, 1083)
BIOS Version/Date: Insyde Corp. V2.02, 23-03-2021

UPDATE: I contacted Acer Chat Support, they told me to uninstall ALL the sound drivers listed in device manager, update Chipset driver from the Acer support website, and then to restart (drivers are re-installed automatically). That step fixed my Speaker and headphone sound volume issues.

For Rise of Nations, I had to open Sound Settings in Windows, navigate to App volume and device preferences, then change the specific app volume for Rise of Nations (It was set to zero for some reason, I guess that explains the hearing nothing at all part). However, to access app specific settings, that app has to run in the background (Alt-Tab after running the app), other wise it won't be displayed in the options.

P.S: I forgot to mention that my friend has an Acer Nitro 5 with DTS: Ultra, and his sound volumes are perfect (with or without headphones). He too plays Rise of Nations, and has no sound issues at all. I believe both Nitro 5 and Helios 300 have similar specs and drivers when it comes to sound. So, why the discrepancy?

Thanks @Zodiak2K, I had the same problem on this machine, really low levels of sound coming from the built in speakers. Followed your steps and they're the way they're supposed to be now :)
