i had formatted my hard drive  because i thoght it had to be done. it was successful and a while after that my D  drive is gone missing from file manager. i looked into disk management section frst it was there  but after restart it isn't there is only  disk1  which is my ssd and  when i looked up in device manager it was there and i was able to create a storage space but it is showing up as disk 2  in disk management previously it was  disk 0. please can anyone tell what methods are available to retrieve my D drive back to it's original disk 0 space. i don't need any data back  just the drive to  it's original state. Thank you in advance :-)

CRAZYGHOST26 firstly, where did you get this from?...“I had formatted my hard drive  because i thoght it had to be done” you never do that to a drive if a drive works especially an old drive like a spinner HDD!

Anyway, what is the exact model number of your laptop? And also show us a caption of your "Disk Management" as its very had to advise you if you don’t tell us these crucial information. Seeing that you said that you have an SSD (I presume the SSD is the C:\ Boot Drive?) you must have your C:\ formatted in GPT/UEFI format and the D drive is a Slave Drive and is in an MBR/Legacu format, is that true?

Give us more details as I’ve got an older laptop with this configuration (see caption below of its "Disk Management") where Disk 0 is an SSD and its the C:\ Boot Drive and formatted in GPT/UEFI formatt and Disk 1 is its "Slave Drive" and its a spinner HDD and formatted in MBR/legacy format. Your problem does not happen if the D drive is working 100% and has no problems, as your problems could be happening because the D drive and this is especially if its an older spinner HDD disk is damaged (bearings, heads or platter problems) and it only works intermittently and that is why you are seeing the drive sometimes and sometimes not or it could be aconnection problem. Check all these thinsg out and let us know.
