linking external monitor Acer SPIN713

I just brought home my new Acer SPIN713 and now realize the aspect ratio is 3:2 and not the normal 16:9.  I have a 27" monitor which I always have synched with my chromebooks and the screen is always filled from edge to edge but I now see the monitor's screen has wide black spaces on either side. Is there any way to get the synched monitor into a full screen mode?  I like the Spin713 but I don't know if I can get used to the view with blacked out sides.  I almost never remove the chromebook from the docked screen.

Sorry, this did not help. I have no problem with the resolution, only the size of the screen on my 27" monitor. The chromebook is a 3:2  and the 27" monitor is 16:9 so the tethered image on the 27" monitor has a wide black band on either side of the image.  Strange thing is if I close the laptop cover the tethered image fills the whole screen on the 27" monitor but does not when the laptop is open. I'm just wondering if I can change the aspect ratio on the larger monitor to equal the 3:2 ratio of the laptop

Mirrored or as a separate one? When mirrored it will always have it but if it's a second screen changing the Res of it should have fixed it 🤔 what's it's resolution when it's connected

It's a mirrored monitor from the laptop so I guess I'll have to live with it.  Thanks for the reply.
