Monitor (XG270HU) colors being extremely washed out and bright.

Hi, I have a monitor that my friend gave to me (Acer XG270HU), and after short use the monitor becomes very bright and washed out, as if you went into the Nvidia control panel and turned up the brightness and gamma to the max settings. When I turn the monitor off and on it sometimes goes back to normal but then same thing happens 10-30 minutes later. Don't think it is a software issue as once the monitor turns into this state, it stays in this state even when I disconnect it from the PC. There is no warranty as my friend bought it a few years ago. Is the monitor just dead? Should I throw it away or is there a way to fix/salvage it? I have noticed this monitor becomes a bit hotter than my other monitors but not to a concerning level. I have tried using DVI, HDMI, and Display Port, all to no avail as well as trying to fiddle with settings in Nvidia control panel including: Changing output color from RGB to Y..., and changing the color range from limited to Full etc. Thank you for the help.

Monitor self test,

1. Power OFF the unit.
2. Unplug all the cables.
3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
4. Turn ON the unit and check.
