Aspire a515-43 with 2666Mhz RAM upgrade

Hi Acer community,

Recently I purchased an Aspire 5 (A515-43), and bought a Samsung 4GB DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666MHZ RAM to upgrade it with.

I had expected it to be a plug and play experience. However, after inserting the RAM, sometimes I get stuck at the windows loading screen, sometimes it manages to progress further.

For the times which I manage to load up, the additiona RAM seems to be partially recognized by the system, with the extra 4GB going under "Hardware Reserved".

I contacted the seller, and they shared that I may have a a older revision that does not support up to 2666MHz and can only go up to 2400MHz.

Is there anyway to circumvent this problem - e.g. reduce my 2666MHZ RAM to 2400MHZ in the BIOS? Or is there an easier fix to all of this.

It should work fine. The 2666MHz module should automatically downshift to accomodate your mainboard 2400MHz capability. So remove the RAM module. Gently wipe its gold contacts with a soft cotton cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. Then use a dry cloth to wipe any remaining liquid off module. Replace the module. Try it again
