Is there a way to change the default keyboard backlight setting to off?

I cannot see an option for this in windows or BIOS. I have seen some older posts suggesting updating the BIOS may add these settings for other models, but the updates available on the acer website for my device don't mention this specifically. I don't really want to risk updating my BIOS if there's no guarantee the feature I want will be added.

Is anyone able to confirm whether the BIOS updates contain these features?

Good policy. Keep checking for updates. However, in those models in which this BIOS timeout disable feature is currently available, it still only works plugged in. On battery alone, timeout still can't be disabled

I have an Acer Aspire A515-56. In the BIOS/UEFI settings on my laptop the first 2 tabs are "Information" followed by "Main".

On the Main page, towards the bottom, there is a toggle (Enabled/Disable) labelled

"Keyboard backlight timeout", if you toggle that to Disabled, the keyboard backlight will remain on at all times. That's how I have mine set and it stays lit permanently.

I have the latest BIOS for my laptop V1.35, but that setting has been in there for as long as I can remember….
