the screws are for the heat sink and all the other screws come out without an issue. the two screws shown are the only ones that won’t come out.

For the GPU, you can do a small x.

You can use a rubber band, larger Philip head screwdriver, or use a solder. Don't try to put too much pressure on it because you could crack the board.

i have cleaned the old factory paste on the cpu and gpu and i repasted both with arctic mx-4 but my temps are still very high when gaming and when idle. i have spare paste if i have to repaste again but i’m not sure what to do now.

What is the temperature for the CPU and the GPU while gaming?

Use a commercial screw remover like Easy Out or Grabit and try to slowly loosen the screw, be careful not to damage the heatsink and motherboard, after, change those 2 screws with the same type of screws and new ones that you can get on the web.

With the paste, use the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme as that is the best paste for high temps and apply it with the "Pea Dot Method" and then apply the paste to both CPU and GPU and put the heatsink on top and screw it down.

it averaged 94 degrees for the cpu and 85 degrees for the gpu and i that was the second time i repasted it with arctic mx-4. Also when opening chrome it spiked to 84 degrees on the cpu.

also when looking for the paste ‘thermal grizzly kryonaut extreme’ is there a difference between the ‘hydronaut’ variant, regular ‘kryonaut’ or the ‘extreme kryonaut?

The extreme is new and specially made for high temps and is their newest paste, I've used it and its excellent as Thermal Grizzly make good pastes. I've used this extreme on older laptops that are known to overheat and its helped out allot but, its not the be all and end all solution to overheating as you have to make sure that the laptop vents are clean and the fans are clean and also, I would definitely use a tablet laptop cooler also to reduce heat as that works great.

when i do get the new thermal paste, is the a different way to apply the thermal paste or do i do the regular pea sized method for the gpu and a small line for the cpu?

Do "Pea Dot Method" for both CPU and GPU not small line for the CPU!
the cpu is a more rectangular shape than the gpu which is a square does that make a difference for the amount of thermal paste?
