Thoughts (Acer Predator Desktop)

So over a couple months, I was really interested in building a pc from scratch. Then I came across this decent build for a reasonable price... I think

*6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700K Processor (Up to 4.2GHz)

*NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 Graphics with 4GB of GDDR5 Video Memory

*16GB DDR4 Dual-Channel 2133MHz Memory

*128GB SSD & 2TB 7200RPM SATA III Hard Drive

*16X DVD±R/RW SuperMulti Drive

*Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 with EAX 5.0 (don't care for)

*6 - USB 3.0 Ports (2 Front, 4 Rear) & 2 - USB 2.0 Ports (Rear)

*2 – Mini Display Ports, 1 - HDMI Port & 1 - DVI Port

*802.11ac WiFi (don't care for)

Windows 10 Home

& Predator Gaming Keyboard & Predator Gaming Mouse

for [CDN] $999+tax

For starters, the ventilation is terrible, which I am aware of but I seem more interested in the parts. I could always get another case if anything/

Thoughts?

I don't think building  a PC with i7-6700K CPU while 11th geneation CPU exist nowadays is a good idea.
The i7-6700K itself cost close to U.S. $400 alone, and the benchmark for it is even slower than a i5-10400 (~U.S. $260).
An i5-11600K or i5-11600KF (~ U.S. $290) has double the speed of i7-6700K. Why use a CPU which is five generations older and costing more?

I just finished building a PC with i5-11500 CPU with PCIe 4.0 motherboard and gen 4 PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD. With existing PC case, PSU,DVD drive, keyboard and mouse I was able to hold the cost just below U.S. $700, and I am still testing the new PC. Win 10 license is kind of reasonably priced.

Are you  a heavy gamer ? If so, the GPU is very important to you.

Since this is Acer Community and we are talking about off topic stuff, contact me via private E-mail and we will discuss this a little bit more.

After looking at those stats, I'd recommend you to build a new PC from scratch. Even 11400F is a beast compared to 6700K.

If money is tight, there are many tech sites that have forums where people sell used components. Getting a second hand CPU, RAM and GPU is pretty safe, but I'd recommend buying a new PSU from a well-known manufacturer.

Is it a used machine? That was a hot machine five or six years ago, but there have been a lot of advancements since then.
