SP314-53N Laptop NVMe installation with Windows 10

Hello all, I have a SP314-53N with a faulty NVMe drive which I have replaced. The new drive is a Crucial P1 M.2 1TB. Looking at the part No of the SSD, Crucial indicate that this drive is compatible with the M/Board.  I downloaded the latest WIN10 image from Microsoft and reinstalled Windows. When windows loads I loose all keyboard functionality/ operation. I have it in BIOS but not in the operation system and not in Safe mode. Loaded ALL drivers from the ACER support website but no help. I have been through lots of drive checks and Windows update but no luck. Because it works in BIOS I think it is something to do with the a driver but the ACER drivers do not help. Second issues is the Mouse PAD. When I load Intels HID driver from the ACER web site the mouse pad stops working. Again there are NO errors in Windows. Uninstall the HID driver and the mouse pad works. Currently Device manager is only showing one device not installed which is a Serial Device, all others are reporting correctly. What have I missed? Are there other drivers required? Thanks, Paul

There are several low end drivers that need to be working to get a lot of the peripheral functionality up. The serial device might be the touchpad, the screen digitizer or the keyboard, so it might be a part of your problem. If you have Windows Update do all updates, including the optional hardware driver updates it should all sort out. Use an external keyboard until the rest is up and running right.

Hi billsey, have tried to update all software and drivers to no difference. even went to Intel and downloaded their software for the Intel Chipsets but no good. Because it is a very late download of Win10, there isn't many updates but have done them till I get "no new updates available". I agree it is some low level driver but one would have thought Acer would have included these in the downloads. Haven't given up but frustrating. I even had a look a the device hardware ID's to see if it would give me a clue as to the correct drivers. Thnx for the help.

If you plug an external keyboard in does that work with Windows?

Yes i use a keyboard and mouse.
Yes i use a keyboard and mouse. This is how I have been working with it. I can even get to the bios using an external keyboard and mouse. I feel, (no proof of this) that is because it works as a tablet also that there may be some software that detects the screen rotation, disables the keyboard and mouse, therefor I need a software driver. This may also be the missing link for the unknown "PCI Serial device" that I am still to get drivers for. I have a mate who works for a bigger IT company teamviewer into it today to see if two heads are better than one. If we solve it I will spread the word on how we did it. Thanks for the help, regards Paul

It could be that your keyboard ribbon or KB control cable have dislodged and/or are not connected properly or faulty. You will have to disassemble the top cover and check your ribbon cable and see? As Win-10 has drivers that install automatically for your laptop and its impossible that your keyboard will not work after a fresh install. This is not a software problem but looks like a hardware problem.

Yes, since the external keyboard works it's more likely hardware than software.
