Hiya, starting off with a note, all the solutions that you could possibly think of such as repasting, windows updates, cleaning the fans, airflow and so on I've already done. The issue at hand is why do i now thermal throttle after installing the latest BIOS update that windows gave me (Same One given here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8033?b=1) while playing games, this issues makes me go nuts, so originally ill be playing Destiny 2 and everything is good then i check for updates so my pc is updated to be secure and the windows update, updates my BIOS, I thought nothing of it and let windows handle it (Beware the temps weren't bad at the time and yes it ran hot, its a laptop but not to the point of thermal throttling) then any game that was somewhat CPU intensive, stutters HARD dropping from 144fps to 4fps in some games. I checked online and download HWMonitor to see my temps and see a big flag that as soon as i hit 100 it throttles to keep the CPU Safe from damage, so i understood the issue but never found the solution, Please Help Me because im going insane.

Helo! This is done to protect the processor. If the problem occurred after updating the bios, try to restore the bios, so that any bugs that remained during the update are fixed. Access the bios, press f9 and then f10, to save and exit. Then, check to see if the problem still occurs.

  • What was the previous version of the bios? Have you tried downgrading the bios?

Yeah thats not possible, when trying to downgrade by using the executable from the official acer drivers website (Bios Section) , it says that a newer version of bios is in place and ends the executable.

Once Again im here, so ive done some testing and found the issue with the bios firmware, 1.10 works like a charm looking at core wattages its around 10-15 on max load which doesnt make the cpu thermal throttle, whereas 1.12 has around 20 to 30 basically double making the cpu run hotter and thermal throttle. Theres also the factor of windows reverting the bios version from 1.10 to 1.12 after a system restart, this happens all the time and even disabling manufactures updates from windows doesnt help this. It seems the problem is that the new update for bios ups the wattage for the cpu.

That`s why I don`t like and trust MS! Disable all updates and tweek this Microsh*t "OS" to remove all bloat and biometrics if you plan to use it. I personally use mainly Linux and have the junk "castrated" to a bare bone  on a separate drive just in case but never had this issue.
