Hey,

So I have a macbook pro (2019) connected to the monitor through the usb-c port. If I check the display options I can only go up to 85hz at 3440x1440. If I connect the macbook with display port I can get it up to 180hz. The manual of the x34 gs says that it can do 180hz through usb c. Any help would be appreciated

It will be the USB port on the Mac , thunderbolt 3 only came with displayport 1.2 which topped out at 4k60 or 1080p120hz

Is there a particular USB-C cable that you've had success with? Or is it necessary to use display port to achieve more than 85Hz with a MacBook. I'm having the same issue as the OP.

It won't be possible over the usb port with any cable, there isn't enough bandwidth on the display port 1.2 connector in the port I'm afraid
