Display /back-lit turns off randomly, but the computer is still running - PH315-51-75WB

    Hi Fluxuate,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    ​2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit. 
    3. You will be in setup utility page. 
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself. 

    Check this T/S and post the result. ​

    forgot to mention, it does turn back on if I keep pressing the power button although not sure if its necessary. But surprising holding down the power button won't force it to shut down

    I did that just several minutes ago, but I'll update if it still persists

    does that mean I can't have the Backlit Timeout disabled? because that's the only configuration I ever did, I disabled it months before this problem ever even occurred

    I shouldn't have to do that, but since mine had been sent to Acer's repair division and they updated the BIOS to the latest one (Not much of a problem because I can just disable the Timeout for the Backlit within the BIOS)

    here's the follow up, the problem will stop if I don't let the Backlit light up for some amount of time (it varies from time to time)

    After a few days right after using your solution it stopped, the Display won't randomly turn off with the Backlit. So I then went back to disable the Backlit time out setting. The problem comes back, only if I let the Backlit Keyboard light up for some amount of time (usually up to several hours). But then if I just not turn on the Backlit the problem won't occur.

    I have no idea what's causing this
