My battery is suddenly draining so fast Helios 300

Hello, I have an Acer Helios 300 2019, and I am having a battery problem recently. I use my laptop for personal basic use like Google Chrome, Netflix, and such stuff. I barely play any games or use heavy programs.

However, 2 weeks ago I started suffering from a sudden issue.  the laptop is turning off when the battery is around 30%, without going into the Eco mode or show the yellow warning sign on the battery as it used to show before. Also, the battery is draining so fast. A few days ago the battery life was better but yesterday and today the battery is draining on an average of 1% every 30 seconds if I am on best performance mode, and 1% every 45 seconds if I am on best battery life mode.

So any ideas or tips to fix this issue? I read that I could do battery calibration through the Acer Care Center, but I didn't find the software. I tried to download it through the downloads section and even after installing it, I am not able to find it at all.

So any ideas or tips?

NB: I had to write this post twice because the laptop turned off exactly while submitting the question🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Certain default settings, apps, and programs on your laptop that are meant to make your experience more pleasant can often be unnecessarily battery draining. Settings such as brightness, the power plan, and other factors such as bloatware and background apps could be contributing to your battery dying quickly.

Adjusting these settings should help your battery keep your battery from dying quickly. However, if it continues to drain too quickly there may be an issue with the battery itself - you may simply have a bad battery.

You may want to check the battery health of your laptop.

If your laptop is several years old and/or out of its warranty, consider looking online for a new battery for your laptop。
    Hey, thanks for your answer.

I am already on Eco mode, and my brightness is the lowest as my laptop is connected to a monitor. However, my concern is that the battery is suddenly draining since a few days ago and the laptop is turning off. It happened overnight and not gradually that's why. I didn't download any new software or using my laptop differently at all.

    Hi,
You could also try disabling "Power off USB charging in Acer Quick Access application.

  • what is the exact model of the laptop? Example an515-51-58vh. have you checked battery wear with hwinfo64?

Hey, I have tried to disable it. But if I am not mistaken this feature is to charge the external devices through the USB portal, right? If so, then I don't think this would help me as I don't have any mobile or device getting charged through my laptop
  • Yes, you are correct. However, even if there is no cell phone connected to this USB port, this port will consume some battery power, if this function is enabled:

Hey, my model is PH317-52. I have downloaded HWINFO64 and my battery wear is 27.4%. Knowing that I am charging my laptop right now and the battery is  79%  at this moment.

What does the battery wear mean?

Oh, I get you. I will monitor the performance then. But this option was enabled since ever I bought my laptop, and my problem ( battery draining and laptop turning off when the battery isn't low yet) is suddenly happening since around 2 weeks ago, only out of nowhere.  that's my problem

Hey, I have tried to update the drivers and both of them are up to date.
  • Try disabling that function in acer quick access and try to calibrate the battery.

Try disabling that function in acer quick access and try to calibrate the battery.
Hey. everything is disabled already in the quick access.

I read about calibrating the battery here https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/570278/faq-common-questions/p1

It seems I have to let the battery drain to 7% then fully charge it 3 times. Unfortunately, one of my problems as explained before is that my laptop is turning off when the battery is around 30%.

Is there any other way to calibrate the battery?
