I have an Acer TravelMate P2 TMP214-52  and occasionally the keyboard stops working apart from the \ and ` keys; a USB keyboard attached has the same issue.  I try the Windows keyboard troubleshooter but nothing is found.  Restarting the laptop solves the problem but it still comes back from time to time.  Any help would be appreciated

    Hi PeterR1947,

    # Try to update the keyboard driver

    1. Hold windows key and hit letter X.
    2. Choose the device manager option.
    3. Go with the option keyboard.
    4. Under the title keyboard.

    5. Right click on that option ----> Update all driver under the title keyboard.
    6. Choose "search automatically".

Check this T/S and post the result.

Uninstall the keyboard driver then reboot and let Windows reinstall. That should fix driver corruption issues...

Tried uninstalling keyboard drivers, also sfc /scannow, still happens from time to time; rebooting the laptop cures it

That is really weird... It almost has to be something going wrong with the keyboard drivers, since it affects both the internal and external keyboards. Do you have apps installed that might affect the keyboard, so as a hot key app?
