TC-780 AMZKi5 Loud startup (possibly PSU?)

Loud grinding on startup/loud running noise is not always on. When it is on, it’s crazy loud. Sometimes noise goes away after 30-60 mins.

What I've done so far:

  • Replaced heatsink fan
  • Replaced HDD with SSD
  • Cleaned inside computer
  • Installed fresh Win 10

Repeatable Scenarios:

Test Scenario 1

  1. Startup LOUD
  2. Wat 2-3 minutes
  3. Shutdown
  4. Startup LOUD

Test Scenario 2

  1. Startup LOUD
  2. Wait 15+ minutes
  3. Shutdown
  4. Startup QUIET

Test Scenario 3

  1. Quiet running
  2. PC goes to sleep
  3. Wake to LOUD

Does this sound like a bios issue or a PSU issue?

If PSU, recommendations on models?

Thanks in advance!

I have experience similar to yours with one of my old PCs. This kind of noise can linger for years and get worse with time while the PSU basically running O.K.

If your have blown compressed air to the interior of the PSU and/or tried to vacuum the dust out of the PSU and the problem persist, then I would suggest replacing the PSU.

If you are not thinking about upgrading to higher power PSU, just take out the old one and get something similar in capacity and size, or stay with the same model. I bet it is probably a standard size ATX form factor PSU ( with 24 pin main connector), if so, there are just too many models to choose from, pick one that you like and will fit your budget.
