I was updating software on my device and after the installation, it went into restarting mode. During the restart process, it became so hot that it went off. For over 12 hours after it had cooled down, it shows no sign of powering whenever I press the power button. It also begins to heat up again when I plug in the charger.

Can someone help me figure out what is wrong with my device.

Device model: Aspire S7 - 392-6411

Check these aspects of your Aspire S7-392-6411 laptop and replace parts accordingly.

    Computer Shuts Down Intermittently -
If the system powers off or at intervals, perform the following:
    1. Makes sure the power cable is properly connected to the computer and the electrical outlet.
    2. Remove all extension cables between the computer and the outlet.
    3. Remove all surge protectors between the computer and the electrical outlet. Plug the computer directly into a known serviceable electrical outlet.
    4. Disconnect the power and open the casing to check the battery condition and that its not damaged, swollen and all connections are making contact.
    5. Check the big fan and the small fans condition and functionality, make sure that their blades and airways are free of obstructions, clean them and make sure that they operate 100% and are not faulty.
    6. Remove all external and non-essential hardware connected to the computer that are not necessary to boot the computer to the failure point.
    7. Remove any recently installed software.
    8. Make sure that the "Auto Power Off Screw" (see below) at the underside cover is tightly secured and not lose.

    (1) Auto Power Off Screw - Removing this screw will automatically shutdown the system if AC adapter is not plugged in.

    Hi creab,

    # Power drain,

    1.Unplug the AC power adapter.
    2. Shutdown the unit.
    3. Search for a pinhole on the backside of your laptop, insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole, press and hold it down for 25 seconds. Then release the paperclip and try to turn on the unit and check.
Check this T/S and post the result.

    Hi creab,

Is your battery charged enough to run the unit.
