How can I connect a Dell monitor with 15 pin connector to an Acer Aspire TC-895-EB11 ?

I just got an Acer Aspire Desktop TC-895-EB11.

I was led to believe that I was going to be able to use my Dell monitor with it, -but I can't find anywhere to plug in it's 15 pin plug connector (there are also two ports of some kind on the side of this Dell monitor -but I don't know what would connect to what.

The two ports on the left side of the Dell monitor seem to be USB, -I wonder if I could connect them into one of the Aspire Desktop usb ports -but which one?

I'm not too familiar with computers -especially with trying to match up old & new components.

The little "User quick reference manual" that came with this computer has a picture of a 15 pin VGA in the 2 (*Optional) box with two other alternative types of connectors -but I can't find anything like that on the Aspire Desktop.

-Can you please advise ?

Im not sure about a step by step but from the top down you have and forgive the formatting, each line is one down on them ports if that makes sense, and | is a gap)

USB 3 | USB 3
USB 3 | USB 3
USB 2 | USB 2 | Ethernet for wired internet
Microphone in (pink ) | Line out (normal speakers / green) | Multi use (blue (Either stero in or Bass out))

As for the "best" monitor, if you are using it for browsing, music production and such it doesnt really matter

The fifteen pin connector is called VGA and as Leostat suggests the HDMI to VGA adapters should work well for you. You have those two HDMI connectors on the back of your Aspire TC-895 and either one will work. The reason they don't use VGA much any more is that it doesn't really support the higher resolutions and speeds that most modern computers can use.

-the HDMI to VGA adapter idea was just the sort of solution that I was hoping for.

But unfortunately I'm also not too surprised to learn that the usb ports won't carry video & as billsey later said, they don't use VGA much any more because it doesn't really support the higher resolutions and speeds that most modern computers can use.

When I tried the,

-I can clearly see that the two top ports are HDMI. (-so I know where I'm going now with those regards.)
-But it's not so clear as to which ones are which with the others.....
-I would wish for a picture indicating specifically what & where everything is. (a step by step operators manual),....
-Start up step by step instructions are what I'm missing, -surely there must be some sort of beginning start up manual for these products ?

I don't know what Dell monitor model it is, -it may be an older model.

Although the HDMI to VGA adapter idea was just the sort of solution that I was hoping for, -and I probably will get one just for the possible use of an extra 2nd monitor, (sometimes useful in music recording-producing scenarios), -I believe that because VGA isn't used much any more because it doesn't really support the higher resolutions and speeds that most modern computers can use, -that I will get a new reasonably priced monitor.
-Which brings me to the question, -What new monitor (around under the $200.00 mark) would be best for my Acer Aspire Desktop TC-895-EB11 ?
