ED323QUR - Why can't I get the HD resolution on new win 10 install?

The HDD died on my HP 15-ay014dx. I replaced it with a Samsung 870 EVO. I reinstalled Win 10 from Microsoft support page provided ISO. Win 10 has a generic monitor driver and will not update it. I downloaded the driver from ACER and manually installed it. Win still will not show a selectable desktop resolution above 1366x768, even though it shows 2560x 1440 as active signal resolution. Prior to the HDD failure this monitor worked perfectly. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Yes, it sounds like Windows is using the basic display driver instead of the one for your GPU.
