Aspire A717-72G - WiFi Adapter Issue
Hello,
Having issues with my Aspire A717-72G's wifi card.
The card is a Qualcomm Atheros 11ac.
When I turned on my laptop, the WiFi was no longer working.
Network Connections only showed Bluetooth and Ethernet; no WiFi.
Checked Device Manager to see if something was wrong with the WiFi card.
Noticed that the Atheros adapter was now a hidden device.
I doubt there is a problem with the physical connection, laptop's hardware was never touched.
These are the steps I have gone through so far:
1. Updated Atheros drivers > did not help.
2. Reset Network settings > did not help.
3. Uninstalled Atheros device from device manager. Rebooting laptop did not auto-reinstall it. Reinstalled it using Atheros driver installation software (first using the backup Atheros WLAN driver software from Acer Recovery Management, then with the most recent driver software from the Acer website) > did not help.
4. Resetting the laptop to factory default settings (Windows reinstall) > did not help
After Step 3, the Atheros adapter stopped showing up in the device manager.
It's neither hidden, nor otherwise available anymore.
Again, reinstalling it did not make it reappear, and neither did the Network reset.
In the Qualcomm Atheros 11ac Wireless LAN installer, I tried both the Modify and Repair options, but neither did the trick.
Scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager does not reveal it.
At the end of my rope! No idea where to go from here.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
