Hi everyone. Today i bought an hdd cable 50.HEEN2.001 for Acer Aspire 3 A315-54K and WD10SPZX hard drive . I have an A315-55KG. I plugged an HDD to the motherboard in red circle port, with blue stripe on cable facing towards laptop's back panel. The ribbon cable plastic thing, that should hold cable tight didn't clipped, so i fixed it in position with tape. The issue is that laptop didn't see a new HDD. Neither in BIOS or Windows Disks Menu. What should i Do?

Can you feel the disk spin up? If not it could be the cable isnt seated properly, also its always worth trying the cable the other way around, im not 100% sure which way it needs to be!

    Hi Scripach,

Apart from adding new HDD did you make any other changes like changing RAM,graphic card like that.

First, did you connect and fit an appropriate HDD to this laptop or did you fit an old spinner faulty HDD? And did you plug the end of the SATA cable properly to the motherboard so that it makes full contact (see captions below)? Also, what is the secondary HDD that you are trying to install? Give us the model number, is it a 2.5 inch spinner HDD or 2.5 inch SSD? As there are certain drives that can only be installed into your Aspire 3 A315-54K.

The Aspire A315-54K suggested spinner HDD's are these models:
    1. HDD TOSHIBA 2.5" 5400rpm 500GB AquariusB,MQ01ABF050,500G/P, 7mmzh SATA III 8MB LF+HF F/W:AM002J
    2. HDD WD 2.5" 5400rpm 500GB WD5000LPCX21VHAT0, MN500S-2, 7mmzh HDD, 500G/P SATA III 16MB LF F/W:01.01A01
    3. HDD TOSHIBA 2.5" 5400rpm 1000GB MQ04ABF100 , 1TB/P, acer code SATA III 128MB LF+HF F/W:JU001J
    4. HDD WD 2.5" 5400rpm 1000GB WD10SPZX21Z10T0 , 7mmzh 1D , 1TB/P , MN1000S SATA III 128MB LF F/W: 02.01A02
    5. HDD WD 2.5" 5400rpm 2000GB WD20SPZX21UA7T0 , 7mmzh 2D , 1TB/P , MN1000M SATA III 128MB LF F/W:01.01A01
The Aspire A315-54K suggested M.2 Flash Disks are these models:
    1. Flash Disk KINGSTON SSD NAND 128GB RBUSNS8154P3/128GJ1 LF+H
    2. Flash Disk SANDISK SSD NAND 128GB SDAPNUW-128G-1014 LF+HF

    4. Flash Disk SANDISK SSD NAND 256GB SDAPNUW-256G-1014 LF+HF

It doesn't really matter which way up the drive is :) if you have something else to test the drive in that would help eliminate that as an issue

A few months ago someone had a similar issue, I will have a nosey through the forums to see if they have which way up the ribbon needs to be. The ribbon cable should slot in a little bit rather then just sit in top of the contacts

last one. the proper ribbon model for my laptop was 50.HGLN7.003. it works just fine, but sata controller fixator don't hold the cable so i maintained it with hot glue and foam
