Predator Helios 300 PH315-53 touching 100℃ during gaming and above 75℃ temperature during idle

Hey guys, so I recently bought an Acer Predator Helios 300 like 4-5 months ago and as mentioned in the title, I wanted to ask are these temperatures normal for this system?

During gaming, the temperatures stay above 95℃ at all times and sometimes touch 100℃ and also, on normal usage (like browsing or zoom meetings) the temperatures stay in the range of 75-94℃ (while plugged in)

Also, the GPU temperatures also stay around 80-84℃ during gaming.

There is one more thing I've noticed, that whenever I launch a game, the CPU temperatures spike to 90+℃ and stay above 90, when the game hasn't even started.

I've done the repasting of thermal paste from Acer service center itself but still the temperatures are in the same range.

I wanted to ask is this normal? Also, I've been experiencing low fps and sometimes flickering in games, at these high temperatures.
Please help.

Hi, I have an Acer predator actually like yours, brought it in Dec of 2020, so about the same age as well. From what I conducted, mine seems to have a lower temperature than yours but still pretty hot around 92 93 just launching my games (War Thunder).

( I can't type below the picture for some reason but) There are two spikes( 92, 93) where I launched War Thunder. The first time was idle with the laptop on my desk, and the second time, I played a match and put my phone case underneath the fans to lift it from the table for better cooling, it looks like it had an effect because it stayed at the same temperature. Try that method and see if it works, if not

Another thing I would try is to buy one of those laptop cooler pads, from this video (

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3zcat1-8D0), Linus said it reduced the temperatures only in 2 to 3 degrees, but in the comments section, someone said they have a 100-degree laptop and when they brought a pad, it brought it down to 60-65.
If you have the money( they are like 30-40 bucks on Amazon), I would try it, if it doesnt work you can just return it for free.

But you see, my problem is that the Acer executives here are saying that my temperatures are normal and 100℃ is normal which I find suspicious and I wanted somebody to confirm if they're facing the same temperature spikes and everything, like in normal situations.

So could you let me know if you're facing the same temperatures or are these temperatures normal? You see, my system is thermal throttling way too much which in turn lowers the performance and thereby, fps and then sometimes, like I said, flickering can be observed.

So could you confirm the temperatures on normal usage and during heavy usage? Like are you facing the same temperature spikes.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

The Acer's predators are designed to withstand higher temperatures than traditional notebooks/laptops. The CPU in your laptop ( i7-105750H) has a maximum operating temperature of 105C. The system would automatically shut down if it extends the maximum temperature. For lags in games, try to test different game settings and see if it fixes the issue, it may not even be the heat that is causing the trouble, it could also be (the game you are playing) is too much for the Predator. Though I doubt that because the Predator is a decent gaming laptop. ( Please also let me know what games are flicking when you play, it may help resolve your issue.

Well, I'm playing Rainbow Six: Siege and during the initial days (as in the first 2-3 months) of this laptop, the fps would stay above 190 and max out at 250fps and then, the temps were around 80-85℃ and the game used to run smoothly on the highest graphic settings.

But now, I'm getting around 80fps and sometimes, at high temperatures, it drops to around 40fps, even on the lowest settings and if I play for more than an hour or something, flickering starts. And when I turn off the game and let the temperatures go down a bit, flickering stops.

And this game is made for the Predator Series laptops as you know already. That's why I think the main suspect here are the high temperatures and thermal throttling that comes with them.

Well then, the best thing you can do you to cool your laptop down to the best of your ability. ( using the cooler pad or a phone case) You cant return it now since is past the 30-day return and this issue is not covered by the warranty.
Another thing you can also do is call tech support, they are for free and may have a better answer to your problem.

But you know, I'm just scared of one thing right now, that, at these high temperatures there's a slight chance of the motherboard getting fried you know. And that would just kill the laptop. So, that's why I was concerned about this.

Since the temperatures go above 90 degrees on normal usage, and peaks out at 100 degrees during heavy usage.. I get so stressed about the fact that this could lead to some short circuit or something, which is the last thing I need right now.
