First and if you have an external monitor try to pug that monitor into your A315-21-23Y4 laptop and see if the external monitor works properly without the tartan screen? As that is the easiest way to check if your LED/LCD screen is working properly, if you don't have an external monitor, then diagnose the monitor this way for abnormal video:

    1. Boot the computer.

    • if permanent vertical/horizontal lines or dark spots appear in the same location, the LCD is faulty and should be replaced.
    • If extensive pixel damage is present (different coloured spots in the same locations on the screen), the LCD is faulty and should be replaced. Replace the LCD Module.

Note: Make sure that the computer is not running on battery alone as this may reduce display brightness.

    2. Adjust the brightness to its highest level. Refer to the User Manual for instructions on adjusting the settings. If the display is too dim at the highest brightness setting, the LCD is faulty and should be replaced. Refer to Disassembly Process.

    3. Check the display resolution is correctly configured:

    • Minimize or close all Windows. If display size is only abnormal in an application, check the view settings and control/mouse wheel zoom feature in the application.
    • If desktop display resolution is not normal, right-click on the desktop and select Personalize Display Settings.
    • Click and drag the Resolution slider to the desired resolution. l Click Apply and check the display. Readjust if necessary.

    4. Roll back the video driver to the previous version if updated.

    5. Remove and reinstall the video driver.

    6. Check the Device Manager to determine that:

    • The device is properly installed. There are no red Xs or yellow exclamation marks
    •   There are no device conflicts and no hardware is listed under Other Devices

These are all the diagnostic steps that you can do, if these diagnostic steps don't work then you have to replace the LED/LCD Panel module from these manufacturers that Acer uses like; CMI, BOE,  AUO as they provide the OEM screens for your Aspire A315-21, also, check the part # that your laptop has on its OEM screen and order a new one of the same type. It should be something like these numbers, the LED/LCD description is something like this; "“LED LCD Panel CMI 15.6’W WXGA Glare N156BGA-EB2 LF 220nit 10ms 600:1 (eDP, 3.2mm Max)" and the part# for this screen is; KL.1560D.020". Note; this might not be the exact LEDLCD screen in your laptop, this is just an example of one of the screens that is put into the Aspire A315-21 laptops. Good luck and hope this helps.
