Hello, my Acer Aspire E5-575G Signature Edition Keyboard Backlight has stopped responding. My laptop is equipped with a backlight, the 'flashing letter A' is shown on my F9 key and has worked in the past. There have been no hardware changes to my laptop so I do not understand why it not longer works, and do not know how to troubleshoot it. Please help

Go into the BIOS and look for any entries that can affect the backlight. Also try doing a reset to defaults there. Some types of BIOS updates are handled through Windows update, and they can muck around with settings that a reset usually fixes. Also, while in the BIOS Main tab, try a CTRL-S to see if any backlight entries appear in that mode.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

I tried both actions with no success. I 'reset to defaults' in the 'Main' tab, and also attempted the CTRL+S which my computer was unresponsive to. My backlight remains unfixed.

I am a little confused with your directions - will I lose my data? It seems like I'll be fine given step 6 but you mention in the beginning all data being removed. Thanks.

@harpoon23, when you choose the keep my files option your data stored in places like Documents or Pictures will stay around. Any apps you installed since the machine was new will be removed as will any apps Acer installed for you will be removed. Data stored in non-standard places will be removed as well.

@Easwar, I appreciate your continuous suggestions.
Unfortunately this was also unsuccessful. It states my drivers are already up to date/I have the latest installed already.

Go remove the panel and check the keyboard connection, reseat it firmly.

Press on the keys to see if any one got stuck.

Visually look at the ribbon cable on both sides see if any wires got burnt out.
