Why did my nitro 5 start smoking

so I was trying to boot up my 2019 acer nitro 5. but even after charging it, it wouldnt turn on. I tried for about 45 min. i disconect it for about 5 seconds, reconnect it, and suddenly, a slow miniature mushroom cloud of grey smoke and horrid fumes wofted the entire room. Smelled like either fried electronics and propane. a few days later (today) i finnaly convinced myself to open it up, unwilling to find all of its innards charred to a crisp. Instead, what i found was normal looking electronics (i dont know too much about computer parts), but then i smelled something foul, the exact same smell I described earlier. The smell (looking with bottom side up) came from the right computer hinge. I noticed a black cord with a 3 centimeter gash i it. The smell Definately came from the cord. now i searched it up, and apearently its an "eDP cable". Now my questions are: (A)- Is my computer allright (B)- Is There annything i can do? (C)-Was annything affected? And finally (D)-what caused it?

Can you provide the exact model? Example an515-51-75kz. This would be the monitor's edp cable. You can send a photo?
