Hello everyone,
A few days ago I took my Acer Nitro 515-52 to an Acer service centre to fix a minor cooling issue. They took apart the device, cleaned the cooling fan, applied some thermal paste and put everything back together. But ever since that the laptop has been performing poorly:
After logging in to my account a few error notifications kept popping up. Clicking on one of them I was taken to the Intel Rapid Storage Technology app, which had one error message -
the PCIe SSD was offline
Taking advice from someone on the internet, I clicked on clear metadata, which seemed to fix the error message. On the intel optane memory tab it is now showing that intel optane memory is disabled on my computer (I don't know if it was enabled before or if it is even supposed to be enabled).
The other notification said to restart the computer to fix an error (I don't remember exactly what kind of error it was; probably something to do with the hard drive).
These two notifications stopped showing up after this. However, every time I boot the device and the Acer logo shows up, the computer performs chkdsk. It says 'press any key to cancel disk checking', and if I let it run it says 'scanning and repairing C: drive' (I only have the one drive). The disk check lasts for about 10 seconds.
Now my computer is performing poorly. Everything takes too long to load. Every app takes longer to load. But after loading, the performance is decent.
Additional details: The guy at the service centre kept insisting that I buy a 240GB SSD from him and get rid of the optane memory.
Please help me folks, my computer was performing well before this incident. Thank you for your time.
