I know the issue! The problem here is the fact that acer was trying to create an ARRAY of mics. This includes all of the microphones hooked up to the Realtek audio chip. All you need to do is get a usb sound card that you can plug in, and then plug the headset into that, or alternatively, just use the microphone array that includes the headset mic. All of the microphones work together to form one big microphone. This increaases background noise, but also allows spacial recording. A type c dock also works. This is just the way that realtek made this audio chip. All of the realtek based microphones are basically working together, so the headset mic does work, but it also works in tandem with all of the other realtek mic's that are connected. It isn't broken, your headset does work, just select realtek mic array and use it that way. Also you need to classify the device you plug in as a headset for it to interface properly.

Also try the DTSX features, they're great!
