Started in place reinstalling Windows 10 with plugged in power supply and battery pack removed. Installation stalled after some hours.  Disconnected power supply Discharged motherboard with unplugged power supply and pressing power on button several times total more than a minute. Started in place reinstalling Windows 10 with plugged in power supply and battery pack removed a second time. Installation restarted at intermediate state. After that, installation stopped a second time. Discharged motherboard with unplugged power supply and pressing power on button several times total more than a minute a second time. Repeated the whole procedure a third time. After the third try, the installation failed again. Then, the installation procedure tried to repair the software and had success. Later, I have tried to start a second Windows system on another position. However, during the startup, a critical low battery warning shows up even if the accumulator pack is removed. Discharging motherboard with unplugged power supply and pressing power on button several times total more than a minute fails. Plugging in power supply results in instantly fading of the power supply status LED. The only reason possible for the fading should be overcurrent.

The 19v charger partly relies on internal battery controller to adjust its voltage to accomodate an 11vdc battery pack.  Without the battery pack & its voltage controller installed, the mainboard and/or charger might be damaged from excess voltage & current. Accordingly, you should not try to run this laptop without a proper working battery pack installed. Jack E/NJ
