Acer Aspire 315-56 (10th gen i3 processor) is very slow under Windows 10. And it has graphics issues which no matter what I do, isn't solving. So, I decided to install Ubuntu 20.04. I made a bootable pendrive from my distro (Ubuntu 20.10). After Keyboard, Language, and WiFi settings, I use to see two things:
  1. Use the whole disk
  2. Manual partition
But I didn't any such an option. It had a new look with + - signs. When I press + or -, it will trigger the Ubuntu bug report. Something is protecting Windows 10. So I went to the bios setting and wanted to turn off the secure boot option, but I couldn't. It has only the UEFI option. But the layout made it looked like if I can toggle it EFI, weird. What should I do? I also see the Fast boot in bios settings, which I don't understand.
Any tips, ideas, or suggestions would be helpful.

[Update]

It's been over two days and I still seem to install ubuntu on this laptop. No matter what I do, Ubuntu-installer doesn't show a file system. I followed different articles regarding this issue. But...
Acer + Intel really did a great job made it really hard as possible in the name of Windows Security.

Things I have tried:

- Enabled AHCI
- Set administrator password in BIOS.
- Disable fastboot & secure boot.
- Tried to reinstall Ubuntu 20.04 multiple times
- Deleted disk 0 partition using DISKPART commands.
<blockquote><div>select disk 0</div><div><br></div><div>list partition</div><div><br></div><div>select partition <partition-number></div><div><br></div><div>delete partition</div></blockquote>

Things I am still confused about are:

In the Advanced menu, I see three things:
  • Intel VTX                                                   (Should I disable it, or enable it?)
  • Intel VTD                                                   (Should I disable it, or enable it?)
  • Storage Device Configuration
HDD0 Port                                                (Should I disable it, or enable it?)
HDD1 Port                                                (Neither I can disable it or enable it)
In the Security menu, I see:
  • Change TPM (TCM) state                         (Should I enable it or disable it?)
<div class="Quote">Bios version: 1.20</div>
Save me before I kill myself on this. This is infuriating.
