What brand and model hub do you have? Some of the cheaper ones don't act as a dock and assume there is a video signal embedded in the USB data stream. Your SP513-54N has DP over USB-C but may not support HDMI over USB-C.

Is it maybe a DKWG30DPHPD? I couldn't find the other model number on their website. Specs on the DKWG30DPHPD says:
A USB-C equipped host laptop (the host USB-C port must support USB Power Delivery 2.0 in order to power and charge your laptop, it must also support DP alt mode to enable video output) or a WiGig (IEEE 802.11ad) equipped host laptop.
Which means it should support display out using the DP over USB-C mode.
