Hi everyone,

I am on Acer Swift 3 (SF315-52G-80LY) and I have been having issues with Windows 10 Update since March 2021.

Any update related to 2021-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64 systems (KB5000802) always fail with 0x800f0922

It will download, install and then shows that "..We couldn't complete the updates.... Undoing changes..."

My current Windows 10 version is.

System type        64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and touch   No pen or touch input is available for this display

Edition  Windows 10 Home

Version 20H2

OS build               19042.804

Experience          Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Things that I have tried and didn't work include but not limited to the following:
1. Tried Windows Update Troubleshooter: no errors
2. Temporarily stop windows update (services.msc) and delete the Software Distribution folder in Windows 10
3. "clean boot" to install update
4. used sfc /scannow (no errors)
5. used DISM (checkhealth, scanhealth, no errors)
6. Manually download the update (MS Update Catalog) and install...
and other minor suggestions provided by many forums...

Appreciate any advice or guidance.

Thank you everyone for reading.

    Hi,

    Thanks.
I read and tried those steps before I decided to ask around if anyone had the same issue and an alternative solution.

I have at lease 150gb of free space I think. I don't feel like reinstalling Windows for every update.

The last time I had bootup issues was hdd issue and Acer Svc Centre had to replace it for free (within warranty).

Now, just several months later, I am face with Windows 10 update issue...

Not having a great experience with Acer...

Does the install log file give any hints as to what is failing with the manual update?

    Hi billsey,

I shall paste some 'failed' messages here as I am not too familiar on how to read or get any hints out of the WindowsUpdateLog (manual update).

Hmm, those both look like network errors. Are you logged in with a local account or a Microsoft account?

    Hi Billsey,

I am on Microsoft account. But I just realised it was not 'verified'.
Not sure if that is the reason why it failed.

I shall give it a go to update and hope it works.

Nope, still didn't work after verifying Windows Account.

    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/cumulative-update-kb5001330-fails-to-install/m-p/2272691

Seems a number of users are having the same issue with the KB5000802 and now KB5001330

The KB5000802 update is no longer appearing but this KB5001330 is the new one and experiencing the same "Couldn't Complete the Updates" issue.

Sounds like we need to wait for MS to update the update once again... :)
